Ascension (Guardians of Ascension #1) by Caris Roane

Alison Wells is no ordinary woman. Born with supernatural powers, she can never make love to a man without putting him in grave danger. But when her special vision reveals  a glorious muscled man soaring overhead on mighty wings, she feels an overwhelming attraction she cannot resist—even as he tells her: “I have come for you. Your blood belongs to me.

Kerrick is a vampire and a warrior who has fought his hunger for a woman’s love for the past two hundred years. As a Guardian of Ascension, he is sworn to protect Alison from the death vamp armies who crave her blood and her power. But Kerrick has cravings of his own—a forbidden longing to open his heart and veins to Alison. To share his blood…satisfy his thirst…and seal their fates forever.

My Quickie Review:

Alison is introduced to a world she had no idea existed and learns why she´s always felt she wasn´t normal.

The war between good and evil has been declared, and Alison is called to play a part. The guardian appointed to be with her through the Ascension is Kerrick, a winged vampire who has vowed never to love again. But how can he resist destiny?

Love this universe and I need to know what will happen with Havily and Marcus. . .on to the next one!!

  1. Sounds similar to the Fallen angel series by JR ward but different enough to give it a shot

  2. Haven't read the Fallen Angel series, and after my experience with BDB where it's always an onslaught of new characters and no revisiting of past characters, I don't think I'm willing to start another one of her series. *sad julie*

We'll have to ask Linda and see if she's read both series and if there are any similarities, or if you check Ascension out, make sure to let us know! :)

  3. I´ve read the first two of Fallen and i´m not going to read any more from that series. I just don´t like her not-so-HEA. There´s something rubbing me the wrong way, not sure what or why.

Caris take on angels and ascension is different enough not to get any deja vu feelings, you don´t get those annoying multiple POV that Ward loves so much. I got the feeling from this first book that there´s a lot more to learn from the worlds than we see here.
