My Review:

Julien eton Anatole is Dagger Ixur. He's been on the run for the last five years. When he spies a young boy in the hands of slavers, he takes action to rescue the boy. Dagger hands him everything he cherishes, telling him to run home to be with his family.

Urshara "Shara" Altaan has been frantically searching for her son, Vasili, since he was kidnapped three days ago. Shara never expected to find her son rescued from slavers by a tall and handsome man in dire need of medical attention.

Dagger never expected to find succor in the Tavili Nation, yet here he is. Shara doesn't understand why Dagger wants to keep his old clothing patched and frayed as it is. Shara is startled to learn that Dagger is really Julien eton Anatole – no longer obese, but a packed and powerful figure who makes her want things she thought long gone.

Dagger becomes Jules Ixur while in the Tavili Nation. He's finding it difficult to keep his thoughts to himself concerning Shara. Shara is vice admiral and takes her duties very seriously. Shara's family isn't happy that she's becoming involved with Jules, which only angers her. Shara has waited a long time for Vas to open up again.

Jules is ever patient with Vas, never complaining. Jules still has to hear about his family exploits through the media. Jules becomes a cock (Tavili in Training) with Shara's cousins. Shara has a bad feeling, but doesn't find out until later that Jules is sold into slavery.

Shara is horrified to learn that her family condones this. Shara tells them that they sold Jules - the last remaining heir to fyreblood heritage. Shara brings Jules home, but he's confused and hurt. Together Jules and Shara pick up the pieces of their lives. Can Jules overcome his past? Will Shara be there for Jules? Will Jules be able to let go of the past? How will Vasili help Jules? Who is Jules fyreblood heritage? Your answers await you in Born of Legend.

I'm absolutely floored by this novel in so many ways that I can't even count. I'll be honest, I never liked Julien's character at all. I personally hoped that he would die in a hole somewhere in the universe. I caught a glimpse of him in the last novel, but thought nothing of it until I started reading this one.

I didn't think there were any redeemable qualities in his character. I now eat humble pie because I was totally wrong about everything regarding his character. I don't generally give out a lot of 5 Star Ratings. I typically give 4 Star Ratings in general. I'm so sad that this novel is done for the year.

If you're new to the series I'd start with Born of Night then go forward. Kenyon's writing is top notch I've seen how a writer can keep you in suspense for an entire novel. I highly recommend this series. You won't be disappointed. Happy Reading!
